Personality: She has a complex personality. While she is usually kind and patient, when Rowena is with people she is close to, she could become so childish, many people would forget she is an adult, let alone a teacher. She hates to pretend she is someone else, but knows that she has to act a certain way in front of most people.
She loves magic and is happy to be one of those few who can control many elements at a time and is not afraid to show this. Proud of her heritage and willing to share her knowledge with others, yet she has many secrets that she would protect with her life. Rowena always pays attention to the way she acts around magical creatures: she shows respect and understanding, something not many magicians do nowadays.
She is a good person and would sacrifice herself to save others, but would never let others do the same for her. She hates liars and hates to lie herself.
Rowena is the type of person who is interested in everything and would do anything possible to learn as much as possible. Her undying interest in history (let it be magical or non-magical), cultures and languages, literature and astronomy were the main reasons why she decided to teach (where else could she learn more than in school?). Rowena loves reading more than anything and this might be one of the reasons why Oderia’s library is so huge.

Appearance: She is a petite woman of 152cm and 50kgs. Rowena has long, straight black hair and light blue eyes with long eyelashes. She likes to have her hair either in a bun or in ponytails and it is rare to see her with her hair down.
While she has highly feminine looks, she does not try to show it. She likes to wear comfortable clothes, rather than pretty ones. It is not rare to see her in normal jeans with some simple top or T-shirt. One thing she likes, however, is wearing boots with high heels when the weather is colder. As she is short, she likes to use any non-magical means possible to make herself taller.
When she meets with Master Magicians or the Council members, she likes to wear black clothing with a cloak, instead of the “traditional” outfit for Wizards and Witches.

Biography:
Rowena was born to a Scottish-Irish family. Generations of magicians were born before her and thus her parents knew she can only be a witch herself. Her family taught her at home, they believed that the girl, just like most of the magicians in the family will be able to control the Earth element. Much to their surprise, the first thing she did was create wings for herself and fly all over the house. Later, she began to show signs of other elemental powers as well and her parents did not know who to ask for help. While Rowena learned a great amount of Earth and Air spells, she was interested in all elements and was determined to learn everything. Throughout her childhood she heard stories of a Master Counsellor of the Mage Council and she knew he was like her – the Master of many Elements.
Once she reached the age of 10, she set out to find this Master. She knew where she had to go reach the Councillors and was hoping the Master might be there. Much to her luck, she found him as he was leaving from a meeting. She would not leave, until he agreed to teach her. This Master was a wood elf. He believed in patience and taking your time with learning magic. He gave many lessons to Rowena, taught her many things about the elements. He explained how to make pacts with magical creatures and how to summon others. She spent the next 10 years studying magic from the best, wandering around Great Britain, and Ireland. While she was raised in Scotland, her mother taught her Gaelic and her father taught her a bit of Scottish Gaelic. She learned magical history, and normal history. Thankfully she has a great memory and can memorise almost anything she reads and thus the Master had an easy job teaching her. Rowena has a general knowledge of all elemental powers and understands magic better than most people, but because of this, she lacks the practical knowledge.
On the road with Master, she realised she has other abilities as well, and tried her best to learn to control them, but even now (that she is the headmaster) she can only control one of her powers properly.
During her travels as a student, at different times, she met four other similarly talented magicians. She met Eoin Ciarán Kavanaugh when she was 18 years old. Eoin hit on her more times than she could count it, but somehow they still managed to become friends in the short amount of time they had before the Master and her went away.
Right after she finished her studies, Rowena ended up traveling a bit more in Scotland. Somewhere in the mountains, she found a magically sealed area. Rowena ended up breaking the seal by accident and met an ancient changeling. She told Rowena her name and that her people were no longer alive. Cyrael (the changeling) was magically sealed into a mountain to make sure she couldn't use her powers to cause destruction and chaos in the world. Rowena made a pact with the grateful creature and from that moment on, Cyrael was in Rowena debt (later it turned out that Rowena's ancestors made the seal to keep Cyrael locked away and that's why the girl could break it).
Once she finished her studies, she decided it was time to create a place where people like her and her friends can learn more about their talents. Eoin was the first person she went to for help. He said the best location for the school would be somewhere close to Angle Bay. While searching for other possible candidates for the school, Rowena had Cyrael help her find yet another powerful Witch. Andra Fionnuala Healey or ó Ealaighthe was the Shapeshifter's choice. While Rowena did not know this woman, she knew that Cyrael must be right about this, and so, she sent Andra a letter asking her to be one of the House Heads. Now, the woman refused this, not once, not even twice, but three times, before agreeing to it for the fourth time Rowena asked. Rowena was kind enough to offer Andra's husband a place in the school, but this was refused. Still, the simple human man has free entry into the school grounds, as a relative to two of its occupants.
