Personality: One might call him a tree, or bark. Rough on the outside, warm once you get to know him. He takes his teaching seriously. He doesn't like arrogance. He has loyalty to the school, and its students. He prefers to stay alone, but does not mind the company if it comes to him. He loves to discuss or debate many subjects. He believes that even the students can teach him in many things. Some might call him emotionless when it comes to hard decisions.

Appearance: Pointy ears, relatively tall. Bushy eyebrows. Square face. Long dark blue hair that covers his back, streaks of white. Amber/Brown eyes . He usually wears a dark blue robe, covered with a leafy pattern. He has pale blue skin at times, when he uses his magic. But when not, its a pale skin tone.

Biography: He was born to a forest far away from Oderia. He lived his childhood with his Great Grandmother. No one ever explained what happened to his parents. He was a strange child, in fact many elves are strange. They found out he could use magic very early on, his Great grandmother let him play on the ground while she picked flowers for tea. When she turned, she saw her grandson levitating rocks and creating shapes with them. Earth magic was a trait his parents shared. And many of his family aswell. He was taught by his grandmother, how to control it. But due to the fact his emotions got in the way of training, she beseech-ed the elders to aid in finding a suitable tutor. The elders instead gave the Merric a scroll, a lost magic of earth. Sand manipulation. He took it as a personal challenge and trained every day alongside the earth spells. He managed to perfect it, albeit a few mistakes that can happen. After all he had no master of Sand to aid him.
He loved to explore, and search for things. One day, he fell in a hole of a large tree. In it, he met a sleeping elf, who clutched a special branch which shined brightly as the sun, covered in beautiful blue leaves. In a blink of an eye, the elf disappeared. Yet the wood remained. Merric thought it was his time to protect. To this day he has no idea what it does. But the magical aura it radiates shows only power inside it. He kept it inside his room, and used it to light the dark and narrow paths in the forest. The Elders appointed Merric to be a teacher for the younger elves. He was happy for many years, to see the youngsters grow up and become powerful wizards and witches. He grew very attached to his students, and they to him. One day, a large Ancient Sprite approached the village its anger was felt throughout the forest. Merric went with many of the Senior Wizards and Witches to dispose of it. During the battle, many of the older students came and aided their Teacher in pushing the Sprite back to its natural peaceful state. Merric gave each of his students a blue leaf from the special branch, but the consquence was the branch losing its light, yet the power remained within. To let them know never to lose sight of who they are and to chase their dreams.
At the death of his great grandmother on his 2054th birthday, he was grief stricken. Many did not see him come out of his home, in a years. Till one of the students, gathered all those taught by Merric. They arrived at his home, without knocking they pulled him out. Handed him back the blue leaves, teaching him the same lessons, he did to them. His hope was rekindled, and decided to truly find out what's out there in the world. In search of what it meant to be alive, and to find who he really is.
As he traveled, he met many of his kin who taught him their techniques in exchange for his aid in up keeping their villages. He was humble, and modest. He fought many dark witches and wizards, yet he never slew them. He wished for them to see the error of their ways. Unfortunately not many did, so they forced his hand. He met a lovely kind hearted, high elf named Yuuna. She lived near a Chinese Peninsula, her soft and silky hair was something Merric greatly admired, and her amethyst eyes mesmerised the poor Wood elf. He tried courting her for many years, doing his best spells to impress her or cooking. Poor Merric only botched those plans up, a rock exploding, the wrong berries which made her hallucinate bunnies. Nonetheless Yuuna, fell in love the clumsy wood elf for his good heart and the many smiles he brought to her. They declared their love for each other at her village and performed the ritual of handfasting. Merric and Yuuna traveled to his first home, where the villagers rejoiced to see Merric back to who he really was. They accepeted Yuuna as one of their own. They lived at his old home happily for a thousand years till his love was robbed from him by a mad wizard who wished to absorb her magic to make it his own. They traveled to a Russian mountain, where Merric thought the branch might bloom to end the hunger of the poor villages surrounding it. Unbeknownst to them, this was a clever ruse by the dark wizard, named Yorgiel. Yorgiel captured Yuuna, no matter how much she resisted in the end Yorgiel won. That was the day, Merric became who he is today. He brutally destroyed the dark wizard. Yuuna's last vow was declaring her love for Merric, and with her last wish she disappeared making the branch bloom and shine as it did. Merric vowed to protect this world from threats. The sadness, he overcame in time. Telling himself she was always in his heart. And she truly was.
During his travels of the world, he searched to find those who wanted to use evil strength to bow others to their will. One day he met Headmistress Lysistra in Amazonian ruins in Brazil. He aided her in destroying her 7th husband who wished to destroy this place of magic. If he succeded the world would have been plunged to a century of night.
They became fast friends after this, having many meetings around the world, Lysistra thought Merric's goal was noble but to her it could just be to further learn more of dark power. Or cut the competition. Either way, her aid was invaluable to Merric. Merric grew close to her, and opened up once again to someone else. He mentioned his love of asian food, and with that. They traveled back to Yuuna's home where the villagers welcomed Merric as he was back home. He never forgot the day, he truly said goodbye to Yuuna thanks to Lysistra's help. They buried a small leaf in the ground, in front of Yuuna's home which to this day has never stopped blossoming, or waned.
He met Rowena on his 5053th birthday. He aided her in destroying a mad witch who used a spell to control the humans at a festival in order to create her own castle, and take over the British isles. Merric told Rowena of why he was there, and his vow to Yuuna. He told her of his past, and how he taught many students where he lived. He believes this is why Rowena asked him to join Oderia's school. Since then he has accompanied her back to the shcool. Where he teaches and lives. He has no regrets of taking break from his true goal, he has a lifetime. Besides, if anything he senses a dark power never before felt near the school. He would protect the youngsters with his life.
